Ya they never come alone they will lead to many others in few seconds. Same happens with our thoughts one negative thought will lead to many other negative thoughts. ANTS means here Automatic Negative Thoughts.
Our thoughts play a central role in our lives and each thought has a pattern. CBT helps us to recognize our distorted thoughts and the behavior followed by them.
Some Thinking errors –
- Overgeneralization – view a single negative event as a predictable pattern of future, never-ending, negative events
- Mind Reading – assume that people are reacting negatively to you or will in the future.
- Personalization – see yourself as causing a negative outcome even if in reality you aren’t responsible.
- Emotional Reasoning – Assume that your emotions necessarily reflect reality. ” I feel like an idiot therefore I must be.”
- Fortune telling – Anticipate that things will then out badly and you convince yourself that your prediction will become fact.
- Maximization or minimization – Exaggerate the importance of your mistakes or imperfections, do this to others, and/or minimize academic achievements, good qualities, and those of others. This results in discouragement and a reduced desire to try.
